Christmas is drawing closer and closer and I still don’t feel prepared for the big day. I haven’t got half of my presents and I’ve not even thought about how I’m decorating the presents that I have bought. I just don’t feel prepared this year for Christmas at all so I am hoping that by being in bed, taking part in this Christmas Tag Q&A it gets me more into the festive mood and motivated to crack on with what I really need to be doing, instead of distracting myself.
1: What is your favourite Christmas Film?
This is such a tough question for me because I don’t have one favourite, I have several! I can’t really narrow it down to one; but here is my top three! Christmas with the Kranks, Jingle All The Way and Love Actually. Oh, and The Grinch, oh and another one… Home Alone! I lied. I couldn’t even narrow it down to top three! I just love how you go through all the different emotions whilst watching Christmas films though so whatever mood I’m in I tend to reach for that film.
2: Have you ever had a White Christmas?
If I have I’ve been too young to remember! I always get so jealous when watching Christmas movies because it’s always snowing! I’d truly love to have a white Christmas.
3: Where do you usually spend your holiday?
At home with my family and if I’m perfectly honest. I wouldn’t have it any other way!
4: What is your favourite Christmas Song?
Argh, just like the Christmas movie question; I can’t just pick one! I think my top favourite is Driving Home for Christmas by Chris Rea because it just feels so comforting and I feel all warm on the inside as soon as I hear the opening tune. Kylie’s Everyday’s Like Christmas is massively underrated and underplayed and I actually listen to that song all year round, and I’m unashamed to admit it! But, then would I really be me if All I Want For Christmas Is You wasn’t on my list? I love belting out that one in a very off key tone!
5: Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?
No! I always wait for Christmas Day. Oh, and it’s not Christmas Day until you’ve got to bed and been asleep!
6: Can you name all of Santa’s Reindeer?
Yessssss? Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donna, Blitzen and of course Rudolph. I also sang the song in my head whilst typing those names out too!
7: What holiday Traditions are you looking Forward to the most?
Christmas Eve! It is my favourite day of the year you have no idea how excited I get on Christmas Eve Eve! I just find it’s a magical day where everyone is in a good mood and I don’t mind working the day on Christmas Eve either. Ever since I was little my mum has always cooked party food for the two of us and we would typically watch whatever Christmas programmes are on TV or even a film and we sit back in our new Christmas pj’s, relax and get really cosy with a drink or two, of course!
8: Is your Christmas tree Real or Fake?
It’s fake! I’ve never really thought about having a real tree an aunt of mine has one every year and the needles always fall off and I think that would drive me insane! So, even when the day comes that I move out of my mum’s (hopefully very soon) I will still have a fake tree more than likely!
9: What is your all time favourite holiday food/Sweet treat?
Would I even be British if I didn’t say pigs in blankets? Come on, they’re everything that’s right with Christmas dinners!
10: Be honest, Do you like giving or receiving gifts better?
Honestly, I love giving gifts. I think it’s just a really nice way to show someone you love and appreciate them. I even love shopping for Christmas gifts, I just think it’s so selfless.
11: What is the best Christmas gift you’ve ever received?
Such a tough question! I always joke and say that my Tangle Teezer is the best present I’ve received because I never go anywhere without it. But, the one thing that popped into my head was tickets for The 1975 which I received two years in a row, in 2018 and 2019, such a shame I wont receive them this year because they don’t have any planned concerts due to COVID.
12: What would be your dream place to visit for the holiday season?
New York looks so spectacular at Christmas when it is all lit up. It is my dream to go there one day, maybe not over Christmas entirely, but I’d love to visit in the run up to Christmas. I also love ice skating, so going ice skating in Central Park is definitely on my Christmas bucket list.
13: Are you a pro present wrapper or do you fail miserably?
Hand on heart, I love wrapping presents! I’m such a perfectionist though when it comes to wrapping and I spend hours and hours on making sure I’m happy with how they look.
14: What is the most memorable holiday moment?
I worked in Santa’s Grotto a few year ago at my local shopping centre and it was such an amazing job listening to the children all excited for Santa as the days drew closer. However, there was this one little boy who always sticks in my head because he said he didn’t want any presents at all, all he wanted was his dad to come home. When one of the other workers was talking to the boy’s mum whilst the boy was talking to Santa the mum said his dad was coming home and was going to be sitting under the tree on Christmas morning to surprise him. I remember sitting on my seat next to Santa trying my hardest not to well up with tears at the little boy’s plea to Santa. How heartbreaking, but how cute and amazing at the same time?
15: When did you realise the truth about Santa?
I can’t remember exactly how it happened, who I was with or how old I was but I remember asking if Santa was really real and being told no. I was probably old enough though hence why I was asking that question in the first place. How sad is it though that once you find out, your Christmas outlook changes forever.
16: Do you make New Years resolutions, and do you stick to them?
No I don’t and I don’t believe in the whole “New Year New Me” quote that gets thrown about all over social media.
17: What makes the holidays special for you?
Everybody coming together to celebrate the day, together. I love it when my Uncle comes home from London because I rarely see him now so I just love having my whole family together. It’s what Christmas is all about in my opinion.
18: What is the worst present you’ve ever received?
I wouldn’t say anything I’ve received has been “the worst” because somebody has gone out and thought of you when buying that item so the thought behind the gift always means more to me than the gift itself.
19: When do you start getting exited for Christmas?
As soon as my birthday is over on the 14th of November. It means it’s exactly 6 weeks to Christmas from my birthday so I think that’s about the right time to start planning, preparing and getting excited.
20: Can you share a funny Christmas memory?
After a New Years Eve party quite a few years ago I was going back to my Grandma’s after spending the night out at my Aunt’s house, with my Grandma. One of her plant pots had blown over in the wind, so she stepped onto a little wall to reach over for the plant pot and ended up falling in the garden. If any of the neighbours were watching they would have thought she was still drunk from the night before! I still laugh about that moment now and again.
Aw I really love doing cute tags like these! I actually feel so Christmassy now and I’ve got a few online shopping tabs open at the top of my browser, because of course I got distracted whilst doing something, but for the right reasons. I’m doing Christmas shopping and planning!
I hope you enjoyed reading this Q&A as much as I enjoyed filling it out! You never know, if I come across another one I may just do another one later on this month for you!
