It’s been a long while since I’ve had a proper good makeup shopping spree so when I saw on the Superdrug website if you spend £25 or over online on Revolution products then they send you a goodie bag of makeup worth £25. How cool? I really liked the idea of buying makeup – and getting free products too. So, I decided to run with it so I decided to go with the offer. Because why not?
And also because I’m a little bit nosey and wanted to see what the mystery items would be.
I had a long look on the app and I actually didn’t realise how many items Revolution had so it actually took me ages to choose which items to pick!
About an hour (or so) later however, I finally narrowed it down to…
1. Life On The Dance Floor Guest List Palette
First thing’s first the packaging on this palette is just stunning! The glitter shimmer front is just spectacular and I know for a fine fact I would be automatically drawn to this palette regardless on the contents. The picture just doesn’t do it justice but I will certainly be showcasing it on my Instagram so keep an eye out on there for it appearing very very soon!
At first glance I really liked the right hand side of the palette more and I thought I would do a lot of work with the dark colours especially now we are coming into Autumn, there are some great tones in that palette for this season, but when I saw the palette in person I really like the softer, more neutral tones and I think they will work well in contrast to the dark colours. I can’t wait to try out some looks.
2. Soph X Extra Spice Palette
I’ve saw all those amazing reviews online, all of those makeup posts on Instagram of this palette so I would be completely insane not to choose this palette!! Wouldn’t I? I’m so excited I’ve eventually got my hands on it, and yep! I’m really going to get into wearing a load of those colours in the upcoming weeks. I just need more exciting events to go to so I have an excuse to wear them other than sitting in my room.
3. Brow Pomade in Dark Brown
I have been after a new product for my brows for a couple of months now. I’ve been using my Barry M eyebrow kit for a number of years now and although I like it, I’m looking for a product that gives a sleeker appearance so when I heard the Revolution brow pomade is a dupe for Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Pomade I just had to give it a try. I’m always up for a cheaper alternative if the quality is good, so I thought I’d try this one out and I have not been disappointed! I went for dark brown as my hair colour is pretty dark at the route and I don’t want to go for a shade too light for my skin colour, so basically the darker the better for me. The colour matches with my root hair colour pretty well so it doesn’t look too dark nor too light, winner winner!
4. Soph X Lipstick in Cake
Lol, let’s ignore how hairy my arms are. I am in fact half gorilla.
I’m a sucker for a light brown, neutral colour lip. I’ve heard amazing things about the Soph X range so I thought I’d give this a go, when I done the swatch I was a little shocked as it seems a bit more pink than brown but hopefully when I’ve got it on my lips it works. I’ve not wore it yet, let’s say I’m a little nervous about how it will look due to the swatch colouring.
Revolution’s Free Gifts
The next items are the ones I received free for my bought products coming to a spot on total to £25. Ooh, I’m a perfectionist shopper for not going over budget!
1. Stripped & Bare Palette
If you love neutral colours then this palette will be right up your street. A selection of lovely soft colours which will make your eyes pop beautifully to bring out the natural beauty within. My mum loved this palette when I opened the box and her hands were all over it, so it could potentially be a Christmas gift to get her this year (I’ll buy her her very own palette, she isn’t getting mine… It’s mine!)
2. Retro Luxe Metallic Lip Contour Kit in Sovereign
What a mouthful this product is. I’ve never really tried metallic lip colours, and I still haven’t so I think I’ll give this a try in the house first before stepping outside with it on. I do, however, love the colours of this lip kit and something inside of me just screams CHRISTMAS whenever I look at it.
3. Matte Lip Contour Kit in Glory
I will be feeling like I’m thee Kylie Jenner in this dark brown. I love a good matte lip look however I find they really dry out my lips and can leave them feeling sensitive. I’ve currently got a little bit of a cold so I will be giving this lip kit a miss until I’m feeling 100% myself again. Halloween is around the corner though, and I think if I want to be brave enough to give this look a try, around Halloween would probably be my best bet to see whether I like it or not. God, Carly.. Get some bloody confidence, gal!
4. Ingot Highlighter in Gold
The dumb side of me appeared when I first read the packaging because I thought it said “Inglot” and not “Ingot” so I was super confused at first to see why I have received a highlighter from another make up brand that Superdrug doesn’t even stock. I re-read the package and I realised my mistake, that could have got embarrassing quite quickly. The richness of the colour is beautiful so this is a highlighter I will definitely be trying out in the future.
5. Skin Kiss Highlighter in Peach Kiss
Two highlighters? Revolution you’re spoiling this gal. What a shame I have to pick which one I’m going to wear. I do really like the tone of this highlighter though which I will possibly get more use out of in the summer months when I don’t want to wear something too heavy. My face does go rather pale in the winter months so perhaps this colour will look good with pale skin and a neutral colour eye, but that’s a whole blog post of it’s own right there, so watch this space!!
Overall, I’m really not disappointed by the products I’ve received free, and bought from Revolution. The delivery time was amazing, I placed my order on Monday night and my items arrived on Friday morning, the same week. I didn’t have to wait too long at all for their arrival. I had them on time for the weekend starting… Right in time for me to go to work, woo….!
All of the products were bubbled wrapped in a big box so none of the products were damaged, or cracked which is even better. I would hate a palette to arrive with smashed eyeshadows, that would hurt my soul. The free gifts are just as great as the bought ones, as a part of me did expect some cheap freebies which wouldn’t be worth their money and that I’d never wear, but actually, I’ll wear all of the products above.
Well worth the money altogether. Well done Revolution, well done!
